We are an independent, family-run team of specialist benefit advisers, with
over 15 years of experience in successfully applying for government benefits
on behalf of older people in the community.
At Help For You, our overriding aim is to provide a personalised service to
older people and help them to be aware of and claim entitlements (such as
Attendance Allowance) if they are over (or at) State Pension age and meet
the criteria to do so.
Our advisers are committed to providing a service to you in the comfort of your
own home. We can do this by telephone, online, or by post.
Thousands of older people are not aware of allowances (such as
Attendance Allowance) or they may be just confused about what to do or put off by the lengthy forms they have to complete.
Additionally, Government statistics have revealed that over a third of those entitled to Pension Credit have failed to claim the benefit, with up to £2.5 billion going unclaimed.
We specialise in Attendance Allowance, Pension Credit and Carer’s Allowance applications. We also have a thorough knowledge of many more entitlements and discounts that may be available to people of State Pension age and know how to apply to get them.
Should you choose our service we will:
• Provide full one-to-one service from the beginning and throughout the
• Complete all forms and paperwork for you from the information you
provide us, both in paper form and online where needed.
• Communicate with the DWP and all other people involved, meaning you
don’t have to worry about a thing.
• We will ensure that we explore every avenue as far as we can, in the
hope you get all the entitlements due to you.
There is no up-front cost to you, as we work on a “no win no fee” basis. This
means that if we provide our service to you and we are unsuccessful, there is
absolutely no charge.
Should you be successful we would charge an agreed amount that would be
taken from the money awarded to you from the Government.
Charge amounts vary depending on what it is we help you with. We will go
through this in detail and agree it with you in writing, once we know how we
can help you and before we start our service to you.
It may be that we identify some entitlements where there will be no charge to
you at all, should we be successful with your claim. This could be, for
instance, free dental care. We will look into this as part of our overall service
We have helped hundreds of local older people over the past ten years. Here are just a few of their stories:
Mrs J from Oldham didn’t know about AA and was struggling to live off her basic state pension. She was told about Help For You by a friend and called us for a chat. We helped her to access an additional £89.15 per week and to apply for a blue disability badge from the local council.
Mr and Mrs O from Tameside contacted us after we helped a family friend. They were both struggling living off their state pensions. Our service helped them to claim over £20,000 per year in additional entitlements. This has changed their lives completely and they are looking forward to moving into a new home more suited to their needs now they can afford to.
Mrs P from Manchester had been refused Attendance Allowance two years ago and was very anxious about reapplying so she called us for guidance. We were able to help her apply again and this time, she was successful. We then went on to help her access more entitlements that she knew nothing about (including claiming council tax support and a full rent rebate. This means she is now thousands of pounds better off each year.
Mr and Mrs J from Middleton, Manchester were told they could not claim Pension Credit a few years ago. We looked into this again for them and it turned out they could claim over £60 per week Pension Credit, which led to many more entitlements heading their way including, amongst other things, free NHS dental care. We also helped them to apply for Attendance Allowance, which they did not know they could do.
Mr P from Morecambe had tried to apply for Attendance Allowance but was put off by lengthy application form and didn’t know where to start. He contacted us and we completed all the documents, meaning he was successful with his claim.
